Disorders and issues we treat

Our professional therapists are highly trained and experienced in the treatment of a wide range of mental health disorders and issues. Here are some of the common issues we treat.

Anxiety

Symptoms include nervousness, worry, changes in appetite, an increased heart rate, and repetitive thoughts.

Attention and hyperactivity issues

Symptoms include lacking an ability to focus on tasks; forgetfulness; constantly misplacing things; being overly physically active (can’t sit still); and an inability to concentrate to the point that school performance is compromised.

Depression

Symptoms include sadness, a focus on past events, changes in appetite, excessive fatigue, lack of motivation, and thoughts of suicide.

Food and eating disorders

Symptoms include abnormal body weight that’s either below or above average; very picky about food; limited food intake; binging food in secret; exercising excessively; or using diuretics.

Low self-esteem

Symptoms include excessively negative thoughts and self-talk such as “I hate myself,” or “I can’t do anything right;” extreme sensitivity to comments by other people; approval seeking; and a reliance on external cues for self-worth.

Neurodivergence

Symptoms include difficulties with interpersonal relationships; lack of understanding of social cues such as gestures, eye contact, and verbal overtures; above average intelligence; preference for sleep and isolation; and food avoidance or restrictions.

Obsessive and ritualistic behaviors

Symptoms include daily repeated actions that affect the quality of life of the individual such as excessive hand washing or inability to leave the house without behavioral ritual; or repetitive thoughts such as feeling like something bad will happen if you don’t wear red today.

Trauma stress

Causes include an acute incident or an ongoing situation that creates fear and confusion in the patient such as a car accident or long-term abuse. Also, thoughts and fears that may interfere with daily living and functions such as leaving the house to go to work.

Other issues we treat 

Many other disorders and issues are less common but are still highly treatable. Kite Care therapists will conduct a thorough evaluation before setting up an evidence-based treatment plan for appropriate and effective care.
